The Last Enemy
This is a first edition, published in 1942 shortly before Richard Hilary's untimely death in a flying accident. A classic fighter pilot's story and covers his training and the Battle of Britain when he suffered severe burns to his face and hands and underwent plastic surgery under the pioneering surgeon Archibold McIndoe, thus becoming one of his very early "guinea pigs". The book is with the original dust cover which shows some wear but is protected by a protective jacket. Generally in good overall condition.
