Royal Naval Cap, HMS Suffolk Book & Medal Grouping
This lot came in together and while we have no history on the original owner, we assume he served on HMS Suffolk and continued in the Royal Navy post war. The book has embossed on the cover HMS Suffolk and "Nous Maintiendrons" and covers her third commission on the China station. Lavishly illustrated with original photographs, cartoons and diagrams, it covers the period from 1933 to 1935 and is a great reference as it also lists the entire ship's company by name during that period. The white top visor cap carries a bullion naval badge, surmounted by a Queen's Crown and is stamped inside size 6 7/8, Army & Navy Hat & Cap Company, Ltd. The grouping is completed by a set of miniature medals mounted as worn, made up of the Defence medal, the 1939-45 medal and the Army Emergency Reserve medal. In addition, there is a pin back medal ribbon bar indicating the award of the Naval General Service medal, the 1939-45 Star, the Atlantic Star, the Defence medal and the Naval General Service Award from 1915-62.
