1704 RAF Ditching Whistle - Click for the bigger picture SoldRAF Ditching Whistle - As carried by all aircrew and often attached to the collar of the battle dress blouse. Nicely stamped AM, King's Crown and 23/230 and on reverse 293/14/L1795. Chrome on brass, good working order!
1896 Air Ministry Signal Mirror - Click for the bigger picture SoldAir Ministry Signal Mirror - As issued with 1932 pattern Mae West life jacket. Made from Bakelite with leather hand strap and stamped with King's Crown, AM and stores ref. no. 6E/271. 10cm diameter.
2106 Flare Pistol - Click for the bigger picture SoldFlare Pistol - "Leuchpistole" were carried by German Military in WW11 including Luftwaffe fighter and bomber crews. This example was made by Erma-Erfurt and dated 1940. Often carried in the fitted holster in "channel trousers" and would have been secured by a rope lanyard. The pistol has been deactivated in line with UK Firearms Law and is supplied with a certificate under the terms of the Firearms Act 1988. In good issued condition. Great display piece!
2006 WWII German Binoculars - Click for the bigger picture SoldWWII German Binoculars - Dienstglas 6x30. Manufactured by Dswarowski (maker's code cag) in military tan paint finish (some rubbing). Complete with rain guard and leather strap. These binoculars were capable of operation at minus forty degrees centigrade to plus fifty degrees centigrade. Lacking case.
2102 Luftwaffe Armbandkompass - Click for the bigger picture SoldLuftwaffe Armbandkompass - Model AK39 (first pattern) complete with original wrist strap. Issued to all Luftwaffe flight crew to aid downed flyers to navigate on the ground. Worn on wrist or attached to schwimmweste. Good original condition but bezel no longer rotates.
1845 Luftwaffe Octant - Click for the bigger picture SoldLuftwaffe Octant - Manufactured by C. Plath of Hamburg no. 116817 and stamped with Luftwaffe code FL 23750 in original fitted box. The instrument is dated 1939 and was used on Luftwaffe long- range aircraft like Condors to provide sidereal navigation. A rare item in excellent original condition. Box size 31cm.
1846 Luftwaffe Master Compass - Click for the bigger picture SoldLuftwaffe Master Compass - Model PFK-m with data plate marked FL23331. These compasses were used to drive a smaller gyrocompass in the cockpit and were fitted to aircraft such as the FW190, ME109 and ME262. In original paint and overall excellent condition.
2017 Trench Art Model Spitfire - Click for the bigger picture SoldTrench Art Model Spitfire - Quality model made from aircraft alloy including the stand base which carries original aircraft paint underneath. In very good condition, 14cm wingspan.
2033 303 Squadron Model Spitfire - Click for the bigger picture Sold303 Squadron Model Spitfire - Mounted on stand with wooden base which is stamped "Kosciusko Sqd 303 Sqd R.A.F. Newton 1943". 303 was a Polish Squadron formed at Leconfield in July 1940 and its pilots fought with distinction during the Battle of Britain. Theatre made from aircraft alloy. 15cm wingspan.
2052 RAF Dinghy First Aid Outfit - Click for the bigger picture SoldRAF Dinghy First Aid Outfit - Complete with contents and designed for "Aircraft Dinghy Large 4-10 Men". Some contents named to RAF and dated 1938. Set includes an A.M. marked tin containing Tubunic Ampoules (morphine) which is now empty! For sale as a collector's item only! Some service wear. 18cm.
1932 RAF Wings Sign - Click for the bigger picture SoldRAF Wings Sign - Painted on a large wooden board and set against an Air Force blue background. We have no provenance with this item but it makes a very strong statement and is just waiting to go back on the wall in the mess! 98cm x 36cm.
1901 229 Operational Conversion Unit Sign - Click for the bigger picture Sold229 Operational Conversion Unit Sign - An RAF plaque hand painted by R.I. Anderson on a wood board depicting the crest of 229 O.C.U. which was formed in December 1950 at RAF Leuchars in Scotland. Showing some age wear but a lovely period patina. 44cm diameter.
2028 Number 11 Squadron Beaker - Click for the bigger picture SoldNumber 11 Squadron Beaker - Constructed of polished wood with brass interior. Finely carved to the front with an RAF plaque and named to Number 11 Fighter Bomber Squadron. It would originally have been a tankard but the handle has been removed. This does not detract from this item which is probably theatre made. Would make a great pen holder for the RAF collector.
1559 RAF Napkin Ring - Click for the bigger picture SoldRAF Napkin Ring - Embossed with King's Crown and A.M. Unfortunately, no provenance but probably used in an RAF Officers' Mess in WWII.
1986 WWII Naughty Glasses! - Click for the bigger picture SoldWWII Naughty Glasses! - These glasses purport to have been owned by Pilot Officer W.M.L.Fiske, an American who flew with 601 Sqd in the Battle of Britain. He sadly died of injuries sustained in combat on 16th August, 1940. The tumblers are typical of the period and probably made in the U.S.A. The front depicts demure images of ladies and servicemen in the dress of the period, but when viewed from the reverse side they become rather more racey! Minor rubbing to transfers but overall remarkable condition. 12cm & 13cm
1676 RAF Tankard - Click for the bigger picture SoldRAF Tankard - A silver soldered half pint tankard presented by Pilot Officer J.AUG.DeGaye to No. 7 B.G.S. RAF Porthcawl 1940. This unit was a Bomber Gunnery School and the tankard would have been presented by the Officer to the Mess on completion of his course. Worthy of further research. 7.5cm.
405 RAF Aerogram - Click for the bigger picture SoldRAF Aerogram - This is an early form of fax enabling servicemen to send special greetings to loved ones in WWII. This example dated 2/11/43 sends Christmas greetings from Doug serving with 113 Maintenance Unit on active duty in the Middle East. Nicely framed. Ideal Christmas present for RAF collector! 22cm x 17cm.
PC35 Aircraft Tail Wheel - Click for the bigger picture SoldAircraft Tail Wheel - On offer is a tail wheel complete with original tyre and alloy hub. The hub is stamped AH05779/1 and we understand this is from an Airspeed Oxford Aircraft. The tyre is stamped Aero Static Conducting and measures 31cm diameter. Some service wear but overall good condition.
1443 Parachute Silk Petticoat - Click for the bigger picture SoldParachute Silk Petticoat - Now for something completely different! We bought this from a lady who discovered it in a box of wartime clothing in her loft. She told us it was made by her mother during WWII utilising silk obtained from an airman's parachute and finished with period net edging around the hem. Definitely home made and a unique reminder from those dark days of "make do and mend". If only it could talk, I'm sure it would have an interesting story to tell.
1718 RAF Fire Screen - Click for the bigger picture SoldRAF Fire Screen - Hand embroidered on linen with RAF Crest and Kings Crown to centre with naive Aircraft and RAF Logo to each corner named to Malta, Gibraltar, Alexandria and Cairo. The screen is dated 1939 - 1945, below which is mounted an RAF Medal Ribbon. 61cm x 37cm. Very bright colours and no moth.
