Supermarine Spitfire Crash Relic

We don't have any history with this one other than we were told it was recovered from a Spitfire crash site. The part appears to be from the carburetter system and has numerous numbers on the case together with traces of black paint and evidence of impact damage. Measures 6" long (15 cm)
