The Canadian Pacific Steamship Company was established in 1891 and became one of the many shipping companies operating in and out of Liverpool. The company expanded as people emigrating from Europe to North America provided a larger number of passengers and the company also started holiday cruise business. The company is now called CP Ships and is owned by a German conglomerate. Our two plates are finished in white glaze and the reverse clearly marked with the CPS name and the makers are shown as North Staffordshire Pottery Co Ltd of Cobridge, Stoke –on- Trent who operated from 1940-52 on the Globe Pottery site. 1948 they became part of the Lawley Group but were taken over in 1952 Ridgway Potteries. Both plates are in good original condition and measure 6.5" diameter (15.5 cm)
