Silver Cigarette Case

hallmarked Birmingham 1931 with initials "HJD" and finely engraved inside "From Torpedo men HMS Neptune 1935". HMS Neptune was a Leander class light cruiser launched in 1933 and sunk in Libyan waters on 19th December 1941. 766 of her 767 hands were lost. The sole survivor being Able Seaman John Norman Walton. Further research required, but we must assume that "HJD" went down with his ship.
