Ship's Wheel with outer rim

A genuine helm of the type often fitted to working boats with the outer rim preventing the spinning spokes catching on clothing and also to aid manoeuvrability. Heavy hardwood construction with painted iron boss and brass banding. The outer rim has been damaged and repaired at some stage, so no longer fit to go to sea but would make an excellent wall decoration. Diameter 27" (68 cm)
