Liberation of Belgium Scarf dated September 1944

A beautifully executed, hand painted example featuring the national flags of the USSR, USA, Belgium, Britain and Free French. Below is a dated shield and an inscription "souvenir de Belgique de Mrs Vierse a Mrs Owen". It would appear that the scarf may have been commisioned by her husband who was probably a member of the liberating forces. Judging by the original packaging, it could well have been presented at a Christmas present in December 1944. A fine souvenir of Summer 76 years ago.
