Japanese Airman's Rescue Signal Flag - Click for the bigger picture SoldJapanese Airman's Rescue Signal Flag - Designed to be folded and carried by Japanese airman in WWII, to aid rescue if forced to ditch over water. The flag is made from a very light material, possibly silk and stitched within the edge is a kapok type floatation device to enable the flag to be spread flat on the water. The rising sun section is oversized compared to a regular Japanese flag, in order to attract maximum attention. Minor service wear and staining, but a most unusual and rare item. 102 cm x 79 cm (40" x 31")

German WWII Leuchpistole - Click for the bigger picture SoldGerman WWII Leuchpistole - Single barrel example manufactured by Erma Erfurt and clearly dated 1940. These flare pistols were issued to Luftwaffe and Kreigsmarine personnel. This example is in good issued condition and has been de-activated with the correct certification, so can be legally owned in the UK without a firearms' certificate. Waffen stamped to barrel.

Mae West Cotton Skull Cap - Click for the bigger picture SoldMae West Cotton Skull Cap - Carried in the pocket of the RAF Mae West lifejacket and it improved chances of being rescued if downed over water. This is a rare variant as it carries an extended back flap to offer improved sun protection, so we assume would have been issued to aircrew serving in tropical or desert climates.
PC49
RAF C Type Flying Helmet 2nd Pattern - Click for the bigger picture SoldRAF C Type Flying Helmet 2nd Pattern - Marked with stores ref. 22C/880 and with the ministry broad arrow property mark. This indicates it is a size 4 - the largest size offered. While this example has been issued, it is in prestine condition inside and out. Currently, it does not have receivers or wiring loom fitted, but with suitable plumbing, this helmet would be hard to improve upon. The chin strap has retained its elasticity and all the snaps and buckles are in perfect order. The inside of the helmet is equally clean. A rare and desirable example.
PC50
Luftwaffe Flying Boots - Click for the bigger picture SoldLuftwaffe Flying Boots - In good original condition and looking at the design and specification, appear to date from mid to late WWII. Black leather uppers with black leather/beige nubuck legs. Fitted with original Wilop bump pattern soles. Both zips are functioning; the right boot carries a metal example by Rapid, while the left has a economy plastic Ri-Ri which looks to be a wartime replacement. All straps are complete, although there are minor variations between the buckle arrangements, so may have been mis-matched at some stage, but appear to have been worn as a pair. These were purchased direct from Germany in nice original condition and showing normal service wear. No labels are fitted, but we estimate to be about a UK 9, USA 9 1/2, Continental 43.

Dinghy Knife - Click for the bigger picture SoldDinghy Knife - As packed in RAF dinghy kit with cork handle to enable the knife to float in water and a rounded end to prevent damage to the boat. The fitted interior is very clean and all in all this case would be hard to better.

Luftwaffe fur lined Flying Boots - Click for the bigger picture SoldLuftwaffe fur lined Flying Boots - This pair came in with the Luftwaffe suit we have recently listed and are post war examples in good original condition. They feature black grained leather uppers, cleated rubber soles with zip and strap fastenings. We cannot decipher the actual size, but they would appear to align to a UK size 9 (Continental 43). A durable and useable pair of boots at a modest price.
3572
Luftwaffe Officer's Belt - Click for the bigger picture SoldLuftwaffe Officer's Belt - A fine original example in tan leather, complete with double pronged pebbled finish buckle. Minor staining to the leather and like many examples we see, the retaining loop for the belt end is absent, but this does not detract and it is perfect for a mannequin display or for re-enactment. It does not have any manufacturer's marks or date stamp and is a good size measuring 46" (117 cm)
3078
Luftwaffe Parachute Quick Release Buckle - Click for the bigger picture SoldLuftwaffe Parachute Quick Release Buckle - A fine example of the war time pattern as used on WWII seat and chest parachutes. It is clearly stamped to the front as shown in the pictures and the back is stamped SA Scholss and manufactured by DR.Gettwart Berlin. Also stamped is FL 30232. What makes this example unusual is the parachute webbing attachment clips are still present and each is stamped FL.30232-1. Unlike many we see, this is not in relic condition and is in full working order. It would make a fine addition to a Luftwaffe collection or to assist in rebuilding a complete parachute assembly.
2057
RAF B type Helmet - Click for the bigger picture SoldRAF B type Helmet - This example is dated 1938 and made by Frank Bryan. Marked size 2 but fits more like a 4. The helmet has been field modified and is fitted with Gosport tubes in good working order. Now looking for a Tiger Moth to plug it into!

1936 Pattern Flying Boots - Click for the bigger picture Sold1936 Pattern Flying Boots - This pair is RNZAF issue and are based upon the standard RAF 1936 pattern. They feature a black chrome leather upper with fleece lining and a leather tightening strap and buckle across the "V" shaped front opening. This variant does not have the internal leather pulls associated with the RAF boot. The top of the left leg is embossed NZ40 3246. This appears to be the RNZAF issue number, although it could be the owner's service number. The boots show some service use with mothing to the internal fur and they have been resoled at some stage. We cannot see a size marked, but they appear to be about a UK 8, Continental 42, US 8 1/2.

A near identical example is shown on page 230 of Mick Prodger's book of vintage Flying Helmets and is listed as South African Airforce. It is constructed of pigskin with receiver cups fitted and zips in working order. On the downside, the rear adjustment strap has been removed and the leather shell is showing heavy wear.
