| 3206 | | | HMT Milford Princess Screen Badge - A painted wooden badge with heavy brass backing plate in diamond form surmounted by a gold crown. The coat of arms is hand painted and while showing some age wear, it is in generally good condition. Milford Princess was built as a trawler and pre war there were over 100 vessels in the Milford Haven fleet. In December 1939 the number had halved, with the most efficient being conscripted into the Royal Naval Patrol Service. Milford Princess registered port no. M228 carried pennant FY616, indicating she was assigned to minesweeping duties. She served from September 1939 to September 1945, after which time she was returned to her owners. This badge could well have been made up on board and would probably have been mounted on the front of the bridge. Good original condition with some service wear.
17" (43 cm) | £190.00 |
 | | Pair of Enamel Boat Badges - Both badges were found by a diver in the River Thames. One is named to the vessel Madge, dated 1930 and issued by Thames Conservancy, and licensed use on a stretch of water from Sonning to Boveney (nr. Windsor). We are told the Madge was a Thames Steamer and served with the Upper Thames Patrol (aquatic version of the Home Guard!) This badge is accompanied by another found in the same area. This is also issued by the Thames Conservancy and while somewhat faded, is marked 62/342 and available until 31st December, 1914. Some chipping to the enamel with some restoration. 4" (10.5 cm) | £38.00
 | | Thomas Walker Ship's Log - Complete with rotator wheel, cord and fin. Marked on the dial Cherub Walker's Mk. III. In the age of satelite navigation, these wonderful instruments are obsolete, but they make very attractive display items and look extremely well mounted on a suitable display board. The fin is stamped with an anchor design T.W. and Cherub. Sold as a display item, although might well work as originally intended but we don't have the facility to test! | £145.00
 | | Walkers Log Spinner - in polished brass, complete with original cordage and metal connector. |
 | | Yacht Tiller - Manufactured in oak with square form carved head and attractive original rope knop. Sadly, we have no information on the craft it came from, but the style indicates it could date from the 1930's. Finished in original varnish and showing some age wear. Nice patina and a very decorative display item, or could go back to sea on a classic yacht! Size 41" (106 cm). |
| OC249 | | | 3 Original Marine Pennants - One featuring a coat of arms surmounted by a King's Crown, the second a horse and the third a lion. Manufactured in cotton with rope and wood toggles. They are in flown condition with minor moth damage, but they still display very well and are extremely decorative. We have no provenance with them, but if any visitors can identify them, please let us know. Size approx. 70cm x 40cm (28" x 16") | |
 | | HMS Ark Royal Plaque and Key - A pair of souvenirs from the aircraft carrier comprising firstly, a brass plaque measuring 3.5" x 2.75" (9cm x 7 cm) removed from a DC starter, clearly embossed HMS Ark Royal and dated May 1969. The second item is a key with an unusual attached plaque indicating it fitted the lock in the Inflammable Store (I)5F. The key measures 6.25" (16cm). The Ark weighed 36,800 tons, was launched in 1950 and was broken up in 1980 after a distinguished career. No doubt these souvenirs were acquired at that time perhaps by a crew member. Original Ark Royal items do not stay with us long, so grab them while you can. |
 | | Chadburns' Whistle Control System - A fine solid brass example mounted on a turned pine base. Marked Willett-Bruce Trademark and below Whistle Control System.James Willett-Bruce was a maker of electric whistle control apparatus as used on White Star liners Titanic and Olympic and he was also the Superintendent Engineer of the White Star Line and had the final say on equipment used on the WSL fleet. The switch is manufactured by the famous marine maker Chadburns of Liverpool and features a sprung loaded operating lever which flicks back to the off position when not held down. We assume this is a safety device to prevent the whistle being left on inadvertently! A most attractive and unusual item of marine memorabilia. Diameter is 7" (18cm) |
 | | Bofors Gun Speaking Tube & Plaque - A most unusual grouping comprising firstly, a copper and brass speaking tube with a section of the orignal communication pipe. This carries a plaque reading Bofors Guns and Wheelhouse. This is accompanied by a heavy brass plaque which we imagine was fixed to the Bofors Gun and is marked Branch Breaker EWI-13. Both items are in extremely good condition, but sadly we do not know what ship they came from. Speaking tube measures 19.5" (50cm), and the plaque 6" (15cm) |
 | | HMS Savage Oil Tank Plaque - An original brass plaque removed from the engine room of HMS Savage. She was a Destroyer, 1710 tons, built in 1942 and broken up in 1962. The plaque shows the full capacity of the number two diesel oil tank to be 3,517 gallons or 13.22 tons and gives numerous dip stick measurements to check the fuel remaining. Stamped with the ship's name, 1942 and G20. We are only glad we don't have to pay to fill her up! Measures 12" (31cm) |
 | | Fine 6 Spoke Ship's Wheel - in varnished oak with solid brass hub and trim. This wheel was fitted on a London Tug boat. A quality wheel in a good size. Diameter - 30" (76 cm) |
 | | Brass & Copper Drip Tray - Originally this would have been attached to the port frame of a ship's scuttle (porthole)and was designed to catch condensation which formed on the inside glass. In good original condition. These items are often misidentified as spill holders or holy water trays! 7" (17 cm) |
 | | Ship's Helm - An original helmsman's wheel in hardwood (looks like teak), with a brass centre and rings. The top spoke carries a brass thimble to provide a visual aid to the helmsman to indicate when the rudder is in the straight position. The back of the hub is stamped with the number 5200, 1, ES and the military broad arrow mark, so assume this wheel has come from a Royal Naval vessel. It measures 30" (76 cm), so is an excellent display size. Please note this is a heavy item and we can provide a postage quotation on request. |
 | | Ship's Red Ensign and Flag Pole - A genuine "red duster" fitted on original hardwood flag pole. The flag is in flown condition, but makes a great display item or would much like to go back to sea! Flag measurements 29" x 15" (74 cm x 38 cm). |
 | | Genuine Ship's Porthole - Made from solid brass with opening port which has been converted to form a unique maritime mirror. | 1186 | | | Solid Brass Ship's Helm - from the RNLI Rhyl Lifeboat - complete with cog for the chain drive. A decorative wheel which, no doubt, has had a most exciting service career. Diameter - 16" (40 cm |
